The Starfish of the Philippines!

Introduction:

The main reason I like to go to the beach is to tackle waves, swim and to chill under a shady beach tree, either sleeping or reading. However, I am also always happy when I find that the beaches are alive with sea life! On the island of Bohol, I found starfish upon starfish on the beaches. One evening, I was struggling to put all the starfish back into the water, and I am now convinced these creatures can walk themselves back to their desired place in the sea.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

It looks like a star and has these orb-like bumps lining each arm and all over the middle part. These bumps tend to be black, the starfish itself is mainly some shade of red but I also found a green one! If you see a starfish flipped over, you'll notice this lining that is a pink color. They also have tiny short tentacles, more like feelers, that help the starfish breathe and move.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I felt fascinated by seeing starfish on the beach because I had only seen them in zoo aquariums before. I was, at that time, there with a friend who taught me that these animals breathe through the tips of their arms. Since some starfish looked like they had been washed too far up shore, we spent quite a long time moving them back to the ocean. I also enjoyed watching the starfish move or flip over on their own, which is definitely a slow process!
