My full name is Maria Magdalena Hernandez, but most people call me Elena or Lena.
I live in Cowpen Village, a small village in Southern Belize. My house is made of wood with a tin roof. It has a big porch with a nice hammock, which perfect for resting on hot days because there is always a good breeze. I have a big yard, where my kids run around and play.
I have a very large family. I have seven siblings--four sisters and three brothers. There are eight of us in total. We all live very close to each other, so we see each other often. All of my siblings have kids, too. My parents have 16 grandkids and two great-grandkids, so family reunions are always full and lively.
I get around on my scooter most of the time. However, if I need to go really far, I'll take the bus or a taxi.
