Joining Clubs

I especially enjoyed a class I took for my music degree called Social and Cultural Studies Through Music in which we got to play instruments from all over the world. There were lots of opportunities in this class for exchange students to interact with each other and other students at the school. I know there were many exchange students who felt alienated from the full-time, four-year students, but when I asked them if they ever went out to meet people, they replied they didn't speak to their suitemates much, join clubs, go to schoolwide events, or even talk to their classmates. An exchange abroad is what you make of it, and if you only have a single semester away, like I had, you'd best dive in ready to experience the best of your surroundings!
