My First Time Eating Grilled Clams!

Introduction:

This month, I took a trip down to the southern city of Busan. Busan is the second largest city in South Korea after Seoul, the capital, where I live. Busan is located in the southeastern corner of South Korea, right on the East Sea. It is famous for its ancient history, beaches and seafood! Seafood is popular all throughout South Korea because the country is a peninsula, meaning it has water on three sides. I have always wanted to try Korean grilled clams. Shellfish is very popular in Long Island, too, and I have been eating it my whole life. However, I've never had it grilled the Korean way!

What food did I try?:

I tried Jogye guui, or grilled clams.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I was actually quite intimidated when the food first came out. Our server brought over a giant plate with huge clams and scallops. I was a bit scared I wouldn't like it. But when we started grilling the clams, the smell was amazing. When I ate one, it was so fresh and clean tasting, not at all fishy. With a little butter on them, I was loving every bite!

How is the food prepared?:

First, the server brings over banchan, or side dishes.
