Taiwan is emerging from its winter season into spring, which traditionally begins in March. This past week was the end of winter, and was relatively cool and cloudy. Monday was sunny, with highs of 86° Fahrenheit. The rest of the week was mostly cloudy and cooler. Peak temperatures were around the mid-70s, and at night the weather cooled off to the mid-to-low-60s. Hsinchu is also considered the windiest city in Taiwan. This past week, gusts peaked around 20 mph but in the dead of winter, winds can reach 40 or 50 mph in gusts.
On my school campus this week, I saw pigeons and squirrels. Before I arrived in Taiwan, I didn’t know that the island also has squirrels like my home back in Massachusetts! However, over here they eat different nuts instead of acorns.
