你好 nǐ hǎo (hello)! My name is Jordan AKA Jo Smeby, welcome to my adventures in Taiwan! I am 23 years old and grew up in Mukilteo, Washington. When I was 18, I moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to attend Colorado State University. I had a wonderful four years at CSU and graduated with degrees in Agricultural Education and Equine Science. I started out as a high school agriculture teacher in Windsor, Colorado and then got the chance of a lifetime to teach English in Taiwan for a year as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. So I applied for a Visa, packed my bags, said goodbye to my friends and family, and traveled 6,999 miles to Taipei, Taiwan. I teach at a junior high school in the Wenshan District (文山區) of Taipei. My students are mainly seventh and eighth graders and some ninth graders. I teach what is called Content Language Integration which means I teach normal subjects using both English and Chinese with a teaching partner who is fluent in Chinese. I love my school! My students are so kind, respectful, and silly. Outside of school, I really enjoy exploring Taipei and the whole island of Taiwan. As a whole, the island is barely over 1/8 the size of Colorado and they have tons of trains so I can easily get all over the country is less than a day. I am excited to share my adventures with you, I hope you love learning about Taiwan as much as I do!
