Hello and hola! My name is Josie, and I am currently studying abroad in Todos Santos, México! I am from the small town of Slater, Iowa, but have been living in Rockford, Illinois for almost one year. In my free time, I like to do crafts like crocheting and sewing, read books, and spend time outside with friends and family. I also love to spend time with my two cats, Muus and Mao (their names mean “cat” in the languages Wolof and Mandarin)!
For the next 10 weeks, I will live in Todos Santos while student teaching in an English as a Second Language classroom. Before moving to Todos Santos, I student taught at Jefferson High School in Rockford in Biology and Bilingual Chemistry classes (hi Jefferson students!). Student teaching is an important part of the process to become a teacher where students like myself learn how to teach! I am still taking classes at the University of Iowa where I previously graduated with a degree in environmental science, and I am now in my final semester studying teaching and learning (basically, how to best teach students!).
I am so excited to take you along with me on my journey in México!
