I have so enjoyed sharing my journeys in India with you in the past few months. We have learned a lot together. Going to a new place always involves deep learning! Thanks to you all, I have been more mindful in capturing moments I think you would enjoy, and I have learned more about specific parts of the culture and place where I am living. For example, I learned about a tree I walk past every day, the African Tulip. I learned about the Kolam art in front of houses in India and how important they are to Indian traditions. I learned how dosas, a typical South Indian food, are made.
What I have most enjoyed about our calls together is all of the questions you have shared with me. I love your curiosity! It is easy to forget how wonderful and exciting a new place is once you have acclimated to the local environment. Each time I talk with you, I am reminded just how different life is here in India from back home in the U.S. I pay more attention to the types of clothing people wear, the many different languages, the ways of getting around, the types of buildings around me and the cows walking in the street. These are just some of the differences that come to my mind.
