Hello! My name is Julianne Gauron, I am a photographer from Boston, Massachusetts. I am a professional photographer and have built my career around travel and capturing stories. I have lived in six countries and have visited many more. Usually, I live and work in the local community. The expedition I want to share is a bit different! I got to dive into other parts of my interests, including my love of adventure, animals and nature!

I photographed an expedition I took cycling from Nairobi, Kenya to Cape Town, South Africa. That’s more than 5,000 miles! I cycled with a team. I met the team near Victoria Falls in Livingston, Zambia and rode over a thousand miles through Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. Most of this was desert.

When I was your age, I had a bike accident. I broke my arm, and stopped riding my bike because I was scared. I wanted to overcome many fears and feel stronger, so I joined the trip in spite of being very afraid. In adventure sports there are different kinds of fun. Type one fun is easy going, and type two fun is hard. Type one fun is like eating an ice cream sundae or watching a movie with a friend, you are happy in the moment, but as soon as it is over the happiness is over, too.

Type two fun is different. Type two fun is harder.
