Meet Marley, an Eight-Year-Old Thai Student

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

I start school at 8:30 in the morning. I finish at 4:00 PM.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

My mom drives me to school. She doesn't let me go to school by myself.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch at school. My favorite food is lasagna.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At school I speak Thai. I'm also learning how to speak English and Chinese. In Thai, hello is sawatdee khaa.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

My friends names are Mali (which is the Thai word for "Jasmine"), Ouey (which is difficult for non-Thai speakers to pronounce: "Uh-ee") and Palm (pronounced like "Pom," like the beginning of "pomegranate"). 

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study English, Chinese, Science, Thai, Computers, Mathematics, Religion and Music. My favorites are English and Computers.

What is your homework like?:

I do exercises in my workbook and I write stories. I also just finished a project where I used materials to make a clock!

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

I like to swim and go eat with my friends. My favorite sports are swimming and badminton!

Who is your favorite famous person?:

Justin Bieber!
