Traveler Bio

Hei hei! My name is Julia Radtke, and I am on a journey in the south of Norway to learn about seabirds and protecting our oceans!

I grew up in a small town called Northfield, Minnesota that is very far away from the oceans in the United States, but my curiosity about wildlife has brought me all around the world to investigate many different animal habitats – on land and in the sea! I went to college at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where I studied biology, chemistry, and the environment. Here in Norway, I am learning about two seabirds called the Great Black Backed Gull and the Common Eider, a large duck. Sometimes, too much fishing or boating can hurt the wildlife in the ocean, so my studies can help people who make important decisions to protect birds and other creatures in our seas.

When I am not on a boat or in the lab, I love to draw, play viola, and bake bread and sweets for my friends. Thank you for joining me on my journey -- I can't wait to explore the beautiful country of Norway with you!
