Dobrodošli! Welcome! My name is Julie Larick, and I’m a student and writer from Cleveland, Ohio. Currently, I live in Novi Sad, Serbia. I just graduated from the College of Wooster, where I majored in English Literature and Environmental Studies. I love reading, hiking, learning languages and watching movies when I'm not writing.
Before moving to Serbia, I worked for a women’s cancer charity and spent the summer on the beach in Massachusetts. Two years ago, I got the incredible opportunity to study abroad in England. I’ve traveled a lot across the U.S.A. and especially love exploring our stunning national parks. Acadia in Maine is my favorite!
My interest in this country was inspired by my grandparents, who emigrated to the U.S.A. from Serbia almost 60 years ago. The stories I heard about their childhood and journey to the U.S.A. have always fascinated and inspired me to learn Serbian. I also have many relatives who do not speak English, and I've always wanted to communicate with them. For my final project at school, I interviewed my grandmother and wrote a book of 40 poems based on her life and migration.
