The ocean covers much of the Earth, about 70% of it. In Spain, there are 3,084 miles of coastline. The Mediterranean Sea covers the eastern and southern borders of Spain, and the Atlantic Ocean borders the west. There is easy access to the ocean from many parts of the country.
The ocean, like rainforests, is essential to the environment and people of Spain. The cuisine here is dependent on the environment, for example. Fish and crustaceans are very common to eat here, and many people rely on fishing for income. I personally enjoy the paella, a rice and fish plate. How does this differ from your diet? Do you like seafood?
Humans are actively hurting the ocean. Many people very worried about this issue and should tackle it. Each year people dump a lot of dirty things and poisons into the Mediterranean Sea. For Spaniards, it is important to protect this body of water for food, jobs and other resources. Can you think of ways we can protect our oceans?
