Hello and welcome to my Reach the World journey! I am 29 years old and currently working, living, laughing and playing in Valparaíso, Chile. I love new places and have spent most of my life living in different areas, although mostly on the west coast of the United States. I just graduated with a Ph.D. from Oregon State in coastal engineering. I study the ocean and how it can be hazardous to the people who live there (think flooding, big waves, etc.). While in Valparaíso I will be working at a university trying to better understand tsunamis.
I am traveling with my wife Izzy, whom I'm sure you all will meet in photos and stories. Together we love to play in the outdoors. Every chance we get we are out hiking, climbing rocks, backpacking, surfing or otherwise trying to absorb sunshine and beautiful scenery. We have never really lived in a big city so we are excited/nervous about living in Valparaíso. Instead of climbing mountains, we may have to learn to dance.
