Traveler Bio

¡Hola! My name is Kalina, and I am 21 year 21-year-old college student from St. Louis, Missouri. I love visiting our famous Forest Park and all its attractions, trying new local restaurants and activities with my friends, and exploring outdoors in the Ozarks. I started college in 2023 and currently attend Syracuse University in New York State. I am studying Environmental Sustainability, Public Policy, and Information Technology. Syracuse is really far from St. Louis, but I love my school because of the opportunities it has given me, like this one!

My university encouraged me to apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship through the U.S. State Department, and I have been lucky enough to be accepted and supported during my journey. Right now, I am studying and travelling in Madrid, Spain. I chose the Madrid program because it is located in a Spanish-speaking city, I can take courses in environmental studies, and because Spain is in mainland Europe. Although I mainly study nature, people, and the government, I have also been learning Spanish since I was very young, so getting to be immersed in it really excites me! When I am not busy going to classes or traveling, I like to play guitar, spend time outside, watch movies, and listen to music. I hope that you all have fun hearing about my journey and that you learn a new thing or two from it!
