What was more shocking to me was to see the crocs in the park where Villahermosa’s citizens take Sunday strolls. Every time I saw a croc, I was astounded, taking many photos and searching for other hidden crocs. However, for the locals, it was simply another animal in the park where they had coffee, spent time with their families and posed for graduation photos.
When I asked people if they were afraid of the crocodiles, many spoke of how some citizens would get as close as they could to crocodiles washed ashore during the frequent floods. The locals that I spoke with did not condone this behavior and emphasized that it was especially forbidden for an extranjera.
