¡Hola! Hello! My name is Katheline M. Soto Chaloka, and I am a 22-year-old archaeology student from Puerto Rico. I was born an raised in Puerto Rico so I speak English and Spanish, and my goal is to also learn Mandarin and Korean. I come from a very close family with two older siblings and my mom.
For my final year of university, I decided to study abroad in another country. I have always really wanted to experience Asian cultures because I know very little about them. With so much to learn, I decided to study in South Korea for a whole year. I applied for and received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which has helped me make this study abroad opportunity possible.
I got to Korean in August, and since then I have made a lot of friends from every part of the world. But as the semester comes to an end, all those friends are slowly leaving to return to their own countries. I have also made a very close friend in South Korea, though, and we are going to travel to some other countries in Asia together while we have a vacation.
I'm so excited that you'll be joining me for this journey. Let's go!
