שלום! Shalom! Hello!
My name is Katherine and I'm a 20-year-old student from Oceanside, California, studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Jerusalem, Israel as part of a semester abroad program. My home university is the University of California, Berkeley in Berkeley, California, where I’m pursuing degrees in sociology and psychology.
I chose to go to Israel to study societies and individuals in Israel. For me, this is a rare opportunity to learn about important issues that shape the ways we understand society as well as learn about individual differences in perspective. I hope my time in Israel will give me a chance to take a comparative perspective on Israeli culture versus American culture and provide me with an experience that complements my education at UC Berkeley. On a personal level, I look forward to forming friendships with people who have different life experiences than me and are as eager to learn about myself and my country as I am to learn about them and theirs!
I hope I inspire you to seek out interesting experiences no matter where you are! Do you want to join me?
