Additionally, knowing the language (Spanish) has been a valuable advantage when interacting with local partners and communities. This experience has reinforced the importance of connecting with people, adapting to diverse perspectives and applying skills such as problem-solving, communication and empathy in professional settings.
In a city as vibrant and complex as Mexico City, the SDGs feel tangible. Through my organization’s interactive learning programs and initiatives designed to build global awareness, children, teens and adults are developing the skills and mindset needed to become responsible global citizens. My internship has given me insight into how global competency, careers and collaborative projects come together to create a more sustainable, connected and equitable world. I hope my journey inspires you and demonstrates the importance of the SDGs and global competency in today’s professional and real-world environments!
