It was soft, lightly sweetened and flavored with hints of orange and anise.
I listened mostly to reggaeton and Spanish pop during my one-hour commute to my internship. In Xochimilco, people played music through speakers on their trajineras (boats), and mariachis performed live along the canals.
The most fun activity was going to Xochimilco and riding the trajineras (boats) with my friends. People go there to relax and celebrate special occasions. We saw families, birthday parties and friends gathering, and we interacted with other trajineras while vendors sold elote (corn) and quesadillas.
I have been reading Conversations on Love by Natasha Lunn in English. The book explores different perspectives on love, relationships and human connection, which has been interesting to reflect on while living in a new culture.
I did not play any games or sports, but I went to the gym every weekday. The gym is always busy, showing how important fitness is in the city. Going to the gym helps me stay healthy and maintain a routine during my time in Mexico City.
I progressed with projects at my internship and continued exploring neighborhoods and discovering cafés, shops and streets I had not seen before. I am also preparing for a trip to Oaxaca City with friends to experience Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
