I traveled to Xochimilco (19.5 miles from where I live), Ciudad Universitaria (11.8 miles) and Tlalnepantla in Estado de México (10.3 miles), which gave me a better sense of how large and diverse Mexico City is.
The farthest I have traveled so far in this journey was to Puerto Escondido in the state of Oaxaca. The flight took about one hour and covered roughly 280 miles. It was beautiful to see the Pacific coast and experience the local culture.
Depending on the destination, I used several different modes of transportation to get around the city. I took the Metrobus, a bus system that runs on dedicated lanes to avoid traffic, the Metro, which is Mexico City’s subway system, Uber rides for longer or more convenient trips and I did a lot of walking to explore neighborhoods and parks. Sometimes it is better to use public transportation or walk because Mexico City’s traffic can be very heavy.
