¡Hola! Hello! My name is Kathleen. I am from Valparaiso, Indiana, in the United States, but I recently moved to Puebla, Mexico to teach English to high school students.
I started studying Spanish in middle school, and having the opportunity to live and work in a country where I use the language every day is something I have looked forward to for a long time. After falling in love with the Spanish language, Hispanic people, and Latin culture in high school, I decided to dedicate my life to enabling other students to do the same. I attended Valparaiso University, where I majored in Spanish and secondary education and minored in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). I taught Spanish in the United States for a year, but after getting married last summer, my husband and I decided it was time for a grand adventure.
Now I spend my days assisting in English classes, tutoring students, and leading professional development for English teachers here. In my free time, I like to dance, listen to music, and spend time with my friends and family. It has definitely been an adventure! Speaking a new language and traveling around a new country can be a challenge, but the people I meet are always willing to help me out. Mexico is a great place, and I am excited to share it with you over the next few weeks!
