Buna Ziua or Hello! My name is Kathryn and grew up in Black Forest, Colorado. Growing up in Black Forest, I did a lot of activities such as soccer, wrestling, swimming, and playing the piano, oboe and violin. I was also heavily involved in volunteer work both for my community and abroad starting in 7th grade.
I graduated from the University of New Haven (PhD) in the field of Criminal Investigations with a specialty focus in human trafficking, intelligence analytics, and dark web investigations. I love to travel and do volunteer work as well! I have traveled to Antarctica (I lived down there for 2 years), Tanzania, Costa Rica, Russia, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, England, Italy, Fiji, and many more. After spending 5 years in law enforcement, I decided to join the Peace Corps and have been a Peace Corps Volunteer since October 2023.
I have been living in the Republic of Moldova in a small village volunteering as an English Educator (teacher) at my village's local school which has grades 2nd through 12th-grade. My primary partner is a teacher through the school but I also work with the mayor, the librarian at the public library, and the hospital.
I cannot wait for all of you to join me on this adventure of a lifetime as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Moldova!
