Greetings fellow adventurers! I'm Katya Zinn, a 25-year-old educator and poet based in Boston, Massachusetts. I graduated from Lesley University with an expressive therapy major and global studies minor. I'm passionate about paying forward art's enrichment of my life, especially in underserved and historically inaccessible communities.
I applied to be a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant because I felt my creative interests, values, and background could be helpful in Malaysia. Malaysia is an underdeveloped country with near-universal public education access, so there's a lot of opportunity to connect with many students during my time here.
I'm excited to share my love of English and learn about Malay culture through my 10-month placement at a Malaysian secondary school. Plus, I'm excited to bring you along for the experience! Together, let's explore this fascinating culture and learn from each other.
