Wieck is about 9 kilometers outside of Greifswald.
Other than going to Wieck, I haven't left Greifswald recently. So I haven't added many more miles on to the 4,352 miles that brought me from America to Germany in the first place. However, I have visted other cities in Germany since getting here: Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. I have also visited other countries like Denmark, Spain, and Poland.
Besides walking to school and the grocery store, when I went to Wieck I took a city bus. Greifswald has a few city buses that help people who don't bike (like me) get to important places outside the city center.
While in Wieck I visited the ruins of Eldena Montastary. The montastary was built out of bricks in 1200 - which seems so old to me! However, during the Thirty Years War, the building was taken apart by looters who wanted to use the bricks to build other things. Some people think that some of the bricks even make up the buildings in Greifswald.
