My name is Kennedy Latham and I am studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa! I am 20 years old and student at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In the future, I want to become a social worker or counselor and work with children who are having difficulty with school. This semester, I am in a service-learning program that allows me to study three days a week and work with an organization in the community during the other two weekdays. I am working at Yabonga, an HIV/AIDS clinic outside of Cape Town. I am working with the afterschool program for children who have been impacted in some way by HIV. We teach them healthy life skills, play sports, and feed them nutritious meals. In addition to living in South Africa, I will also be traveling to Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia during my semester here! I am excited for you to follow along on my journey throughout southern Africa. Let's go!
