I’m Kevin Tran, a Vietnamese American educator from Texas currently serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Việt Nam as an English Teacher Trainer. I co-teach English at a high school in southern Việt Nam, support and train local English teachers, facilitate an English Club for high school students, and lead a community Kid’s Club for elementary and middle school learners.
Before Peace Corps, I taught all grade levels in the United States, focusing on creative, technology-integrated instruction and project-based learning, and I also coached academic journalism to help students strengthen their writing, critical thinking, and storytelling skills. My interest in global learning began early. When I was in elementary school, a community member visited my classroom and introduced the Peace Corps, explaining that serving as a teacher abroad was a way to help others and represent the United States. That moment stayed with me for years, and I eventually made that dream a reality through Peace Corps service.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy learning Vietnamese, exploring local markets and neighborhoods, trying new foods, visiting museums, taking photos, and collecting everyday stories that show what life is like in Việt Nam today. Through my Reach the World journey, I hope to help students learn about Vietnamese culture and education, develop curiosity and empathy, and see the present-day friendship between the United States and Việt Nam through authentic classroom and community experiences.
