Throughout this semester I’ve realized that the teaching styles in England are quite different from what I have experienced while studying back home in the United States. The timeline of the education system in the United Kingdom is different, which ends up affecting the way subject material is taught. Even though I’m here in London studying at a site that is run by New York University, the assignments are very different because my professors also teach at other colleges in London. My professors have told me a little bit about how the education system works here, which helped me realize why the assignments are kind of different. Even though the new style of teaching took some getting used to, I learned different ways to study in London, and I know I’ll be able to take these strategies back home with me.

The most significant reason why a university education in the United Kingdom is different than a university education in the States is because students in the United Kingdom decide whether they are going to "go on to college" at the age of 16. If they decide they would like to go on to university, students are required to attend sixth form.
