Здравствуйте! Bună ziua! Hello!
My name is Kiara Kolaczyk, but you can call me Ra. I'm 22 years old and am from Rochester, New York, but I've been living on Long Island (near New York City) for the past four years for work and my studies. I recently graduated from Stony Brook University with my bachelor's degree in linguistics and Russian studies, and I started my MBA in marketing while working for an international software startup company.
However, I hit the pause button on all of that after I was fortunate enough to receive a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Moldova. Now, I'm living in Ungheni, Moldova, spending my time teaching at Colegiul Agroindustrial, participating in community events, and volunteering at the American Corner to help locals who are interested in improving their English.
I may know how to speak Russian, but tmost people in Ungheni speak Romanian, so I've been spending the majority of my free time studying Romanian in order to assist more with language instruction and to interact more with the local people. Moldova is one of the lesser known and traveled countries in Europe, due to its rich history of being once a part of Russia and Romania. That means that there's so much to discover and share with you about their culture and home. Let's explore and learn about Moldova--together!
