One of the first things I noticed when I landed in Sevilla, was how different the food is here. Whether that was in the grocery store or when I went out to eat with friends. Each night, even now, I try to order a new food when I go to a restaurant to try something new and to check a few more options off my bucket list. So far, my favorites, here, are croquetas, which are deep-fried rolls filled usually with ham or spinach. I am not a big fan of ham, but it is very popular here and has been a part of the culture for many years.
Ordering at restaurants is also different here, which was something I learned very quickly. Instead of the waiter or waitress coming to your table to ask you what you want to order or to give you the check, you have to wave them over. This is very normal here and not considered rude at all. Going out to eat is viewed more as time to spend with friends and loved ones, so it is actually rude for the waiter to come to you and disturb you. It is still super hard for me to get the courage to get their attention, but it is totally worth it for the amazing food!
