These services come every 7-10 minutes, and each ride costs only about 10 cents. These transportation options are a popular option to get to work or school on time. Sometimes it can be stressful because if the bus is too full, it will pass your stop without picking up more passengers. To be sure of getting a ride, I just make sure to get there 10 minutes early. The buses and metro stations are almost exactly the same in the United States, but when you see your bus coming you always have to wave it down or else it will pass right by you. Over time, I have gotten better at this, but at first it was hard to handle!
A lot of locals also own cars and will drive to work or to the store. This is not as normal as it is in the United States. Most of the time, if people are taking a car somewhere they use a taxi or uber.
My favorite way of getting around is either by bus or by bike. I really enjoy both options because they get me where I am going so much faster compared to walking everywhere. My dorm in Seville is about a 55 minute walk from my school, so most mornings I cannot afford to take a stroll!
It is always fun to watch people on the bus. I met a few very nice locals while trying to figure out the bussing system, and it is great to watch the morning chatter every day. There is always a mix of college students, adults on their way to work and grandparents watching their young grandchildren. I adore being a part of this ritual every morning.
I also really enjoy biking around the city. While there are a lot of parks in Seville, I have missed being outdoors like I can be so often in New England.
