Traveler Bio

Howdy! My name is Kierra Kennedy and I am 23 years old. I am from San Antonio, Texas and growing up I loved to play outside with my friends, read fiction books, learn how to play new instruments, and ice skate (indoors of course). I went to Texas A&M (WHOOP!) for university where I majored in Forensic and Investigative Sciences and double minored in Chemistry and Neuroscience. During my undergraduate years, I worked in an entomology lab where I helped rear flies and study tick pathogens.

Because of all my experience in STEM, I decided that I wanted to work in the healthcare field, and I am now a Peace Corps Volunteer in Peru. I am in the health sector, and I live in a very remote and rural area of Junín. I work at the health post in my community to educate mothers on how to keep themselves and their children healthy. I also teach in high school about adolescent nutrition and self-esteem. I love my job, and I can't wait to share my adventure with you all and hear about your journeys too!

Peace Corps Volunteers like me live and work side by side with community members around the world, collaborating on locally prioritized projects, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations. Learn more by clicking here.
