Getting Around Paris

Introduction:

The majority of people in Paris use public transportation to travel around because it is difficult to drive on the narrow streets of the city. The system is very good; most trains and buses arrive every 3 minutes.

How do people get around?:

Here in Paris people get around using several different methods, but almost everyone takes public transportation. In fact, only 13% of travel in Paris happens with a car. Public transportation methods include the Metro, which is the underground train, buses, trams and above-ground trains which extend into the city's suburbs.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I travel around primarily on the Metro. It is very convenient because I can find a station within walking distance from almost anywhere. Last week I took a trip to Versailles, which is a suburb that is an hour away from Paris. To get there I took the above-ground train that is often used by commuters.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Paris has very narrow streets, which makes driving and parking very difficult. The majority of people here use public transportation to get from place to place since it is so much easier. It's also good for the environment!
