The weather this week has been a mix of rainy, cloudy, and sometimes sunny. We are at the end of the rainy season but the sun still comes out in the afternoons at times. The temperature is still hot.
In the village where I live, I see cows, donkeys and goats ranging freely. People sometimes use the donkeys to pull carts as a mode of transportation. My host family also keeps many chickens in the yard.
The most interesting thing I saw this week was a South African Milkweed Locust. It is an insect with white and black stripes and red spots. Its head was green with black eyes and antennae. It also had spots of red all over. I couldn't believe it was about the size of my palm!
Since it's been so rainy and windy this week, on one of my morning walks, I saw a few snails on the road.
