Paris's Transportation System: Where You Can Find Calm Within the Crowd

Introduction:

Transportation will mean much more than you think when you go to study abroad. Paris's transportation system carries that particular feeling of safety and tranquility. Even when the metro is full, and you are tired after a long day of work, you feel calm; there is no rush. Even at night, you don't feel lonely; there are people, lights and life that will make you feel at home, and also help you arrive safely back home.

How do people get around?:

Something that caught my attention right when I came to Paris is how much people walk. You will always see people walking from home to work, taking their kids to school or simply enjoying the city on foot. At first, a 30-minute walk sounded like too much, but now, I would not think twice; it always passes faster than you could imagine. The metro system in Paris is great; it takes you anywhere, and it is easy to understand. The metro is clean and safe. Obviously, you should always be cautious when walking, taking the metro, bus, bike or Uber, but generally speaking, Paris offers safe transportation.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I am grateful for the Paris transportation system.
