Dear Mrs. Barakkatz's class,

You are virtual world travelers! This was an exciting few weeks where I got to show you my experiences eating Korean barbeque, learning about Korean popular culture and exploring travel spots. You got to see pictures of me looking at the cherry blossoms in my hanbok and eating treats at the street market with my friends. As I depart from this exchange with you all, I would like to summarize some of the best moments and lessons studying abroad taught me.

A rose bush has several parts, and the image provides a picture of what my time studying abroad taught me. First, there are the roses, beautiful flowers that remind me of all of the fun times I had abroad. Second, there are the prickly thorns that remind me about some of the hard lessons I had to learn while being far from home. Finally, there are the buds, the baby flowers that will one day bloom big! The buds are like reminders of all of the opportunities that staying in school and learning from new countries opened up for me.

First up, the roses: food, friends and fun! I traveled to beach towns such as Sokcho and tried new seafood dishes. I made a lot of Korean friends that went to Korea University and made some friends from different countries, too.
