Korean pop culture has become globally famous with the rise of K-pop idol music stars, and the popularity of K-dramas, K-beauty, and skincare. During my time studying abroad in South Korea, I was able to attend Korean music festivals and K-pop concerts. Fun and upbeat songs, and fashionable singers have turned K-pop bands such as BTS into worldwide sensations. Fans have interesting ways to celebrate their favorite artists. For instance, there are 노래방 (noraebang) or karaoke halls at every street corner where fans can sing along to their favorite bands' songs. Fans can also collect K-pop idol picture cards to share or trade with their friends. There are several concerts and festivals to attend throughout the year where fans can enjoy live performances and shop for merchandise.

When I studied at Korea University, I went to several festivals hosted by the school to watch K-pop idols perform live. I also won and bought several artist picture cards and went to a karaoke party during one of the festivals! My friends and I got so immersed in K-pop that we took a trip to the beach where BTS, a famous K-pop band, shot the cover for one of their albums.
