¿Hola amigos, qué más? Hey friends, how's it going? My name is Laurel, and I'm currently living and teaching English in Leticia, Colombia as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar. Back in the United States, I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I also lived in St. Louis, Missouri for four years and graduated from Saint Louis University with degrees in political science and international studies in May 2019.
Leticia is in the Amazon Rainforest and has a lot of beautiful plants and animals. It is the southernmost city in Colombia, so it's right on the border of Brazil and Peru. To get to Brazil, you can simply walk, bike, or drive across the border. To get to Peru, you can take a ten-minute boat ride across the Amazon River, or if you are really brave, you could try to swim! Here, it is very easy to go to three countries in one day, and you don’t even have to get on a plane or use a passport!
I love to travel because I love to experience new things, see lots of beautiful places, learn about different cultures, and meet new people. So far, I’ve been to 18 different countries! I was also able to live and study abroad in Madrid, Spain for six months while I was in college, which was a life-changing experience.
I am so excited to go on this adventure with you! Are you ready? ¡Vamos! Let's go!
