Hi there! My name is Lauren, and I'm writing to you while sipping a macchiato in a cafe in Prishtina, Kosovo. Coffee plays a major role in Kosovar life, but you'll learn more about that later.
First things first. Has anybody here heard of Kosovo before today? If you have, do you think you would be able to point to it on a map, if you had one in front of you? If you answered "YES," congratulations, you're awesome! But if you're like I was just a few years ago, and have absolutely no idea what Kosovo is or where it's located, don't worry. I'm here to bring you up to speed.
I grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia, not too far from where you are right now, so when I found out I'd be partnered up with your class, I was really excited to learn that you were so close to home. I've actually been through Ashland a few times, and I've even driven past your school!
My childhood in West Virginia was well spent, but as I got older, I wanted to get away from home. I was lucky to find a great school in Rochester, New York that was perfect for me.
