Traveler Bio

Hi everyone! My name is Alexandra Meger, but you can call me Lexie. I am 24 years old and grew up in a small farming town in central California called Bakersfield. Back home in California, I love surfing with my dad, making pottery at my mom's ceramics studio, and biking with my sisters. For college, I decided to fly across the entire continent to attend Georgetown University where I majored in Nursing and Studio Art while taking classes in Portuguese. During this time, I discovered a deep passion for women's healthcare.

Eager to explore more autonomous and empowering options for people who are pregnant, I applied for and was fortunate to receive a U.S. Fulbright Research Grant to study herbal remedies and traditional birthing practices used for people who are pregnant, laboring, and/or who recently birthed a baby in the indigenous communities of Manaus, Brazil. I am excited to share my adventures, discoveries about a different healthcare system, and art projects with you, and I cannot wait to hear about all of the journeys that you will embark on throughout this year!
