¡Buenos días, amigos! (Good day, friends!)
My name is Lindsey, and I’m 22 years old. I come from a small town in Central New York, where I spent my childhood asking big questions about the world and playing outside as much as possible! Over the years, I competed in softball, track and field, cross-country, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Since I’m 6'3" (really tall!), basketball and volleyball became my best sports.
After years of hard work, I got a phone call that changed everything — the Harvard Basketball coach wanted me on the team! That was the start of my adventure at a magical, Hogwarts-like school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At Harvard, I studied Psychology and Education Systems around the world.
When I graduated, I wanted to do something creative, exciting, and meaningful in another country. That’s how I joined the Peace Corps, an independent agency of the U.S. government that sends volunteers to different countries to help communities grow. Now, I live in Carhuaz, Ancash, Peru, a beautiful town on the edge of the Andes Mountains! Here, I work with my local government, community, and youth to create opportunities like sports leagues (just like the ones that helped me grow!). I also teach yoga and meditation—all in Spanish! I’m so excited to share the amazing food, mountains, and culture of my new home with you all. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures, too!
Peace Corps Volunteers like me live and work side by side with community members around the world, collaborating on locally prioritized projects, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations. Learn more by clicking here.
