The hike encircled a lake and was mostly marsh, making for a squishy walk. However, along the way I found a bunch of cacti that I really enjoyed. They all had perfectly symmetrical forms. The smaller ones along the path also reminded me a lot of sea creatures. I felt a bit like I was hiking underwater, which was fun.
In some of the lakes higher up in Cajas National Park, the water is so clean that you can safely drink it. I didn't want to test that claim too much, but I did have one sip!
