Traveler Bio

Hello there! My name is Loc Nguyen and I'm 22 years old and based out of Ontario, California (not Canada!). I spent half my life growing up in Da Nang, a coastal city in Vietnam where the abundant oceans and rivers carry my childhood memory of playing, going to school, and enjoying the tasty local cuisine. Hand in hand with my parents, I moved to the US after finishing elementary school and learned to adapt to life in a whole new country. I learned English, made a lot of friends, ran track and field, and spent an obnoxious amount of time tinkering with computers and electronics. I enjoy learning how things work from an engineering perspective and using that knowledge to make new things so the world can be more fun!

I'm on track to finish my degree in Computer Science and was giddy when I was accepted as a Gilman scholar to study in South Korea at Dankook University. In a few short weeks, I'll be walking around in the busy city of Seoul, taking in the rural beauty of Yongin, and meeting many students around the world.

I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to share my experience with you so tune in to see where you'll spot me next! Want to know more about how you can study or intern abroad when you are a college student? The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by the Institute of International Education (IIE).
