Some are teachers, kindergarten teachers, police officers, architects or lawyers. Others work in graphic design, statistics, the army or call centers. Many parents also own small businesses.
There are two shifts at our school. For half of the students, they start around 8 a.m. and finish around 1 p.m. Students wake up around 6:30/7:00 a.m. The other half of students start at 2:00 p.m. and finish at 7:00 p.m. A lot of students in the morning shift also take extra classes after school.
Most students go to school by themselves. Many walk to school, while others take the bus or ride bikes or scooters. It is common for students to travel independently, especially if they live close to school.
There is no lunch period, only a 20 minute break. Some of us eat a light snack during the 20 minute break. After school, we usually go home and eat lunch with our families, which may be a bean soup or some kind of meat stew. Many of them love sweets!
We speak Albanian at home, sometimes speak English online with friends when online gaming. Përshëndetje (Formal) or Ç’kemi (in-formal) is how you say hi! But actually the most common way of greeting someone is to skip the Hi and say, Si je?, which means, "How are you?" The 'j' in Albanian makes the 'y' sound (like in 'yes').
