Hi everyone! My name is Lucy and I'm so excited to share my experience living and working in Germany with your classroom in the coming weeks. Here's some information about me so you can get to know me a little bit better...
I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and went to high school with your teacher Mrs. Bence! I started learning French in Kindergarten, and this language remained my favorite subject in school all the way through 12th grade. The idea of learning a skill that could open up a world of opportunities including travel, meeting new people and learning new ways of thinking and doing was so exciting and interesting to me. That's why I decided to major in French when I went to The University of Iowa. And what's the best way to improve your foreign language skills? Speak with native speakers! So, I went to France and spent a semester in Lyon. This experience opened up my world. I learned how capable I was and how independent I could be, anywhere in the world!
I wanted to learn another language in order to open my world up even further, so I started taking German classes at university. This allowed me to do a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Germany after graduating. I moved to Saarbrücken, Germany in August 2018 and began working in a local highschool as an English teacher. I loved it so much that I decided to stay!
