During each of our video calls, students have asked, "How can we help elephants?"
Even though you may not be in a place where elephants live, you can still help by supporting organizations that are on the ground helping elephants. There are many organizations doing great work, which you can find researching online. Part of helping elephants is also helping the people who live among them, and community outreach is vital in any area that has elephants. Some charities and research programs focus on this aspect. You can find out more about our project, called "Elephants and Sustainable Agriculture" in Kenya at our Facebook page (search for "ElesKenya" on Facebook) and you can follow us for elephant and wildlife photos and updates on our research.
To donate to our project or to the feeding program for the children of Sasenyi (see my Field Note on children in Kenya), you can find info on our About Me page on Facebook or follow these instructions:
To donate to our project you can visit the International Elephant Foundation’s page on our project. Then, select the program name, "Elephant Deterrents and Behavioral Responses".
