Hello! My name is Mackenzie Miller, and I am from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I just turned 25 years old and will soon begin classes at the National Dong Hwa University for a master's degree in Ethnic Relations and Culture here in Hualien, Taiwan. I am honored to study on this island with help from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
When I was in third grade, my teacher gave each of my classmates and me a small notebook to send to one person in the United States or around the world. After that person got the notebook, they sent it to someone else and so on. My notebook went to my cousin in Africa, including people I had never met in Europe! I loved learning about countries and cultures different from my own. After that, I knew I wanted to travel to these places and many more. In fact, two years later, I left my home country for the first time and traveled to Africa. Taiwan is now the twelfth country I traveled to outside the country. Can you guess where else I explored?
Now that I am in Taiwan, I am excited to try new foods, practice speaking Mandarin Chinese, learn about indigenous cultures, and spend time hiking, biking, and running. I have two parents and a younger brother and sister. I can't wait for them to come and visit me in Taiwan sometime! I also can't wait to meet all of you, too.
會兒再說吧! Talk to you soon!
