Hello! My name is Madalyn Heinle and I am a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic! I am from Natrona Heights, PA, a small town outside of Pittsburgh. I grew up playing soccer, singing and dancing in my school’s musicals, and playing the clarinet in the band. I was inspired to join the Peace Corps when I was in high school. My Spanish teacher, Señora Proano, would tell us about her adventures in the Peace Corps in Ecuador and I thought it sounded like the coolest thing ever. From that point on I knew it was something I wanted to do. I went to the University of Pittsburgh where I studied Political Science, International Relations, Global Studies, Cultural Dynamics, and Spanish, all with the Peace Corps in the back of my mind. So, I applied a few weeks before graduation, and accepted my invitation only 10 days later! I arrived in August 2023 and will be here until October 2025. I love the adventures I have had while living here as well as learning about Dominican culture! I can’t wait to share with you my life here and what I’ve learned!
