Traveler Bio

Hola! Hello! My name is Marc Mains, but you can call me Marc. I am 38 years old and I am from Spotsylvania, Virginia. Ever since I was five years old I have loved reptiles and amphibians. I remember when my dad let me hold my first snake, an Eastern Mole Kingsnake. I love hiking, birds watching, "herping" (looking for reptiles and amphibians), taking photographs of wildlife, exercising, and playing video games.

I attend Oregon State University online (I'm a senior with one semester left) and I am majoring in wildlife sciences in order to become a wildlife biologist/herpetologist-- a scientist who studies reptiles and amphibians. I am already a certified Master Herpetologist, and I worked as a teaching assistant at the Amphibian Foundation. I have won several photo contests with my wildlife photography and hope to do this as a side job in my spare time. I love doing research focused on wildlife biology, adaptations, and natural history of different species.

While in Costa Rica, I will be staying with a host family and learning about their culture and language. I can't wait to share my experiences and adventures with you all! Together we will explore the country, culture and creatures of Costa Rica!
