My Autobiography

Upon returning to the United States, I decided to move back to my home state of Wisconsin and work at a university in my hometown. I currently work at a small liberal arts college called Carroll University.  In my role as Director of Pre-College Programs, I plan enrichment programs for high school students from underrepresented backgrounds. My job is to ensure that students who come from low-income families are able to access and succeed in college just like their peers from higher-income backgrounds.

Outside of my work and studies, I love to travel! In the last year, I have traveled to Thailand, Cambodia, Nicaragua, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Spain and Jordan. I enjoy traveling because it allows me to learn about culture and language first-hand. There are so many simple or negative messages about people and cultures in our textbooks, news and media, that I prefer to connect with these people and learn about the culture myself.

When I am at home in Wisconsin, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a 2 year old nephew named William and 6 month old niece named Harper who I try to see at least once a week. In order to keep healthy, I like to run, do yoga and go to African dance classes.
